Mini-Cassia

Design and websites, made in Burley.

I’ve worked from Burley since 2007, straight out of college. If you’re in Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, Paul, Declo or Oakley, you can call me and get me — and when it’s easier to look at something printed, in person, that’s a short drive rather than a courier.

What I do for businesses here

Four things, and they overlap more often than not. A guide needs a map in it; a new logo needs to work on a sign and on a website; a print ad and a landing page should look like the same business.

Print and graphic design
Ads, posters, menus, business cards, logos, and multi-page publications, built to go to press without surprises.
Maps
Wall maps, guide maps, wayfinding, and scaled site plans.
Websites
Built, hosted, and maintained by one person, so there is one number to call when something breaks.
Custom software
A tool built around how your business already works, for when the spreadsheet has stopped being enough.

Twenty years of print, all of them here

Before I went out on my own in 2017, I spent seven years as advertising coordinator and graphic designer for King’s Variety Stores, a 21-store regional chain run from its general offices here in Burley, with stores in Burley and Rupert. I produced more than 100 printed circulars and ran the press they came off. If you shopped either store in those years, you have held my work.

Since 2018 I’ve been the design and production side of Discover Area Guides — more than 50 regional travel guides, including the Burley and Rupert edition. The county historical maps came out of that work: Cassia, Minidoka, and seven more.

Print goes wrong in ways a screen never shows you. The stock is heavier than you pictured, the ink sits differently on it, the fold lands in the wrong place. There’s one print shop in Mini-Cassia and they do good work, but no single shop is right for every job, so plenty of it goes to Twin Falls, Preston, or down to Utah. Where a job goes changes what it costs and how it comes back. Knowing that, and being close enough to put a proof on your desk before it goes anywhere, is most of what keeps a job from having to be run twice.

Questions

Do you work with businesses outside Mini-Cassia?

Yes. Twin Falls, Jerome and the rest of the Magic Valley are routine. Map projects come from anywhere in the country — those run by phone and email.

Can we meet in person?

If it’s useful. Most projects run fine over email, but for a big print job it’s often faster to sit down once at the start and agree what it is.

How fast can you turn something around?

A print ad is usually a few hours once I have the copy and photos. A logo takes five to ten days. A website or a multi-page guide is quoted with a schedule.

What does it cost?

It depends on the job, so I quote each one. Call or email and tell me what it is.

Are you the person doing the work?

Yes. There is no studio behind me and nothing is sent offshore. If that means I’m booked when you need me, I’ll tell you that instead of taking the job.

Working on something?

Tell me what it is and when you need it. If I’m not the right fit for it, I’ll say so.
